How I Became a Videographer in 3 months

In 2019, I started my first full-time job as a corporate lawyer, but I quickly realised that a 9-5 job and climbing the corporate ladder for the next 40 years was not for me…

At the time, Jason was studying full-time in law school and was feeling unfulfilled and directionless with the path he was taking in life.

At the start of 2020, whilst working and studying full-time, we decided to get out of our comfort zone. We took a leap of faith, learnt a new creative skill and started a videography & photography side hustle.


At the start of 2022, I quit my corporate job which at the time, paid a $100,000+ per year salary, Jason graduated from law school and we decided to dive head first into creative entrepreneurship and pursue our videography business full—time.

Despite both graduating from top law schools with honours and having “good career prospects” ahead of us, we decided to take a risk...

Today, we run a multi-six figure videography/photography business and we aim to document and share our learnings along the way with our community online. Our mission is to help others just like us, who feel lost and directionless with their chosen life path, turn their creative passion into a profitable high income skill so they can live fulfilling lives earning a good income doing something they love.

    Learn the basics of video storytelling and how to achieve a cinematic look with your current equipment. By the end of the week, you’ll know how to identify great spec project opportunities, plan, shoot, edit, and complete your very first video project, ready to share.

  • Week 2 : Launching Your Online Presence
    Set up your portfolio and social media pages like a pro. Learn how to present your work, write a bio, and start putting yourself out there to build credibility and attract attention.

  • Week 3: Getting Real Client Experience
    Discover how to approach your first practice clients — from family, friends, or local businesses — and deliver simple, polished video projects to build your confidence and portfolio.

  • Week 4: The Roadmap to Monetisation

    Learn proven, beginner-friendly strategies to start charging for your work. We’ll cover profitable niches, pricing basics, creating your packages, marketing & sales 101 and how to land your first paid gigs.
